HIGHER CHINESE

At Wharton, we believe in introducing four fundamentals of learning a language in a timely manner – listening, speaking, reading and writing – in order to establish a strong foundation in the language. The key to successful language proficiency is to start young and immerse them in a rich and curated Chinese speaking environment.

Playgroup
Children at Playgroup (from 18 months) may not be proficient in speaking. Here , we focus on developing your child’s listening skills. Your child is introduced to visual and verbal components of the Chinese language through their environment through our trained teachers.

Nursery
Speaking comes naturally once your child reaches Nursery Level, as they will have built up the foundation of the language. They might even start elementary reading at this stage.

K1 and K2
At K1 and K2, your child will be well prepared to dive deeper into the High Chinese Curriculum.

Enriching Your Child’s Word Bank

Due to its complexity, writing in Chinese can be very challenging as it requires your child to master fine motor skills as well as exposure to basic characters. That’s why we start building your child’s word bank early in a fun and conducive environment.
