Every element of our space is guided by child development science, with careful attention to four key environmental factors: thermal comfort, acoustics, lighting, and spatial interaction.

A Central Green Courtyard

At the heart of our centre is a central indoor courtyard — a safe, enclosed haven where children can play, laugh, and form friendships, rain or shine.

The height of our ceilings and the gently elevated floors are designed to cushion movement, providing comfort and sensory ease, so your child can explore and develop gross motor skills safely and confidently.

This versatile space also serves as a hub for assemblies and celebrations, bringing the whole Wharton community together.

While children enjoy the freedom to explore, our Montessori classrooms offer unique activities across five key areas — language and listening, numeracy, discovery of the world, practical life, and sensorial work — ensuring systematic progress from Playgroup to K2.

1) What is a “SPARK” certification?

The Singapore Pre-school Accreditation Framework (SPARK) is a quality assurance framework introduced to raise the quality of pre-schools in Singapore.

SPARK aims to provide recognition and support for pre-schools in their efforts to improve quality in teaching and learning, administration and management processes in the centre.

It serves as a benchmark for pre-schools in their journey towards raising quality programmes in teaching and learning, as well as to help parents make informed choices in their pre-school selection.

2) How does Wharton Preschool provide learning beyond the centre?

Learning at Wharton doesn’t stop at school or home — it continues through meaningful real-world experiences.

Whether visiting the local police post, fire station, or community centre, your child discovers and learns through exploring their neighbourhood. They may also spend time planting herbs, observing nature in the courtyard, or engaging with local community visitors.

3) How does a Montessori environment help my child in the long run?

Hear It Straight From the Parents of Our Preschoolers

My daughter has been with Wharton since PG days, and she’s now in K2. Our entire journey at Wharton has been a wonderful one and despite us moving homes and being further away, we decided to stick to Wharton and commute because she’s got a bunch of friends and their families that we’ve come to know and love. We also love the feeling of community with the staff. Her teachers through the years have been great, and all the teachers are familiar with who’s who in the school even if they’re not teaching that particular grade- they genuinely care!!

The environment is clean and inviting and creative. It’s also purpose built for the kids (e.g. with sinks at the heights of little toddlers) so it encourages a lot of independence (in line with the Montessori approach). The curriculum is a mix of thematic learning and Montessori, also offers higher Chinese, which is all a great mix. They even do current affairs and I find my girl teaching me new things too. there are organised events and field trips designed for interesting varied ways of learning for the kids. We enjoy it so much we’ve enrolled our son too and he has loved school from day one! Thank you to the teaching staff and ancillary staff for taking such good daily care of all the precious children.

As Wesley graduates from Wharton preschool, our hearts are filled with gratitude and warmth. Despite living far from the school and having to take an early bus every day, Wesley has never once said he didn’t want to go to Wharton.
